Churchie Aquatics, located at The Barry McCart Aquatic Centre, is one of the best school-based swimming complexes in Australia. Close to Brisbane’s CBD, Churchie Aquatics has three heated pools — a six-lane 50-metre pool, an eight-lane 25-metre pool and a 13-metre covered teaching pool — all open year round.
At Churchie Aquatics we run swimming training and carnivals, lifesaving, and learn-to-swim programs.
Our complex is well resourced for swim meets with stadium seating and high tech inclusions such as lights, electronic touch timing, underwater camera and live screen integration. The 25 metre pool ensure full warm up and swim down facilities for competitions.
Ablutions include two showers and toilets for females and 2 showers and toilets for males.
An onsite shop sells a range of swimming goggles.
Car parking for 100 vehicles is right next to the pool and the gymnasium facilities of the Sir John Pigeon Sports Complex is next door. Full gym access is included in monthly squad fees, making Churchie Aquatics ideal for those wanting to combine weights and cross training programs. Our state and national squads have training sessions in the gym, with designated times also allocated to members of our competition squad as required by our coaching staff.
Other services include access to specialist swim coaches for tailored swim programs, a dietician / nutritionist and air-conditioned café, The Arches, nearby. This café open 7 am to 5 pm weekdays and 7 am to 2 pm Saturdays serving Campos coffee and a selection of fresh seasonal food.
